Diagnosing a sleep disorder
In order to accurately diagnosis a sleep disorder, patients will be invited to stay at our state-of-the-art sleep center. Tucked away in a quiet part of the hospital, we have beautifully decorated, home-like rooms with queen-sized beds, recliners and flat screen televisions. Our goal is to ensure you are as relaxed as possible during your stay.
During the sleep study, technicians will attach small sensors to your body before you fall asleep.
These sensors are used to record and monitor:
- Breathing
- Brain wave activity
- Muscle activity
- Heart rate and rhythms
- Oxygen levels
The doctors and technicians use this information to help determine the cause of your sleep condition and create an individualized treatment plan to help you get a good night's rest.
Schedule a sleep test
Brigham City Community Hospital offers overnight oximetry screening tests, in-house sleep tests and take-home sleep tests.
Sleep disorders are recognized medical conditions. Check with your insurance provider to see if sleep studies are covered by your plan.
Contact your primary care provider for information about participating in a sleep study.
Discuss at-home sleep study
Home sleep studies provide patients with equipment that monitors heart rate, oxygen level, and breathing from home. Home studies can be a good first step in having sleeping issues evaluated.
